About · Tuesday Academy

A studio for the
sport we love.

We started Tuesday Academy because we wanted to be the coaches we wished we'd had. Today we train students from across Singapore's debating circuit, and stay with them through their university applications, open debate careers, and a lot of dedicated case prep in between.

Est.
on a Tuesday.
Origin · A letter from the founders

We started Tuesday Academy in 2022 because we kept hearing the same thing from parents: "my child wants to debate but the school CCA isn't enough." So we built the studio we'd have wanted: small classes, real coaches, and tournaments treated as the point rather than the bonus.

Four years on, our students compete across MIDS, TADO, SPDO, MIDC, SSSDC and the international circuit. Some go on to Ivy League. Most just become braver, sharper and more capable of holding a room, which is the part we're actually proud of.

We don't make promises we can't keep. So here at Tuesday Academy, we promise to make your child a more thoughtful, curious, confident version of themselves.

Philosophy · How we run the studio

Treat debate like a sport.
Not a class.

01
Train. Don't lecture.
Every session has drills, sparring, and live feedback. We don't read off slides. Students learn by doing the thing: argued, rebutted, adjudicated.
02
Group by skill, not by age.
An advanced P6 can outrun a hesitant Sec 3. We band students by what they can already do, so the room is always pushing, never waiting.
03
Show your work.
Coaches give written feedback after every session. Parents see what was covered, what their child did well, and what we're working on next.
04
Tournaments are the point.
Every term student is aimed at at least one competition. We handle registration, motion prep, pre-round briefs, and post-round adjudication review.
05
Be honest with the parent.
If a child isn't ready for a tournament, we say so. If a programme isn't the right fit, we say so. The diagnostic is genuinely a diagnostic.
